Disable Regedit


1.
Click the "Windows" logo key at the bottom left on the keyboard. Type "regedit" in the Start menu search box and press "Enter" to open the registry editor.

Double-click the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder on the left-hand pane of the registry editor window.

3. Double-click the "Software" folder.

4. Double-click the "Microsoft" folder.

5. Double-click the "Windows" folder.

6. Double-click the "CurrentVersion" folder.

Right-click the "Policies" folder under the "CurrentVersion" folder, and select "New" and "Key." A new folder appears under the "Policies" folder. Name the folder "System" and press "Enter." Click the "System" folder.

Right-click with the mouse pointer in an open area on the right-hand side of the window and select "New" and "DWORD (32-bit) Value." A new registry key appears. Name the registry key "DisableRegistryTools" and press "Enter."

Double-click the new "DisableRegistryTools" registry entry. Type the number "0" in the "Value Data" box and click "OK."

10.Right-click the "System" folder on the left-hand side of the window and select "Export." A file explorer window opens. Navigate to a folder on your computer where you are unlikely to delete files accidentally, type the name "Enable Regedit" in the "File Name" box and click "Save." If you need to re-enable access to the registry editor in the future, double-click this file.

11.
Return to the registry editor window and double-click "DisableRegistryTools." Change the number in the "Value Data" box from "0" to "2" and click "OK."

12.
Close the registry editor and restart the computer. This disables all access to the registry editor.
